Safety notice and disclaimer
WeightIQ is a training log and calculator. It is not medical advice and it is not a personal trainer or coach. Lifting weights carries a risk of injury. Use the app with caution, and where you can, train under the supervision of a qualified coach.
Not medical advice, not a trainer
WeightIQ, published by Tegrco Apps, records your workouts and does some arithmetic with them. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it does not give medical, physiotherapy, nutrition or personal-training advice. Using the app does not create a doctor–patient, coach–client or any similar relationship between you and us. Nothing in the app or on this website replaces advice from a doctor or other qualified professional.
Before you start
Talk to a doctor or other qualified health professional before you begin or change a strength-training programme, and especially if you:
- have, or have had, a heart or blood-pressure problem, diabetes, kidney disease, a back, joint or bone problem, or any other medical condition;
- are pregnant or recently gave birth, are recovering from an injury or surgery, or take medication that affects exercise;
- are new to lifting, have been inactive, or are older and unsure what is safe for you;
- are under 18: please train with a parent or guardian's agreement and a qualified coach.
Stop and get help straight away if you feel chest pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath, sharp or sudden pain, or numbness. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Lift with caution
- Warm up, and use a weight you can lift with good technique. Add weight gradually.
- Use safety arms or pins and, for heavy squats and presses, a spotter. Do not test a maximum alone or without safeties.
- You do not need to train to failure to make progress, and failed reps are where many accidents happen.
- If a weight or a number in the app feels too heavy or too ambitious, go lighter. You are always in charge of what you lift.
The numbers are estimates
Estimated and potential 1RM, percentage tables and zones, warm-up ramps, next-session suggestions, progress projections and goal progress are approximations based on general formulas and what you logged. They can be wrong for you, sometimes by a wide margin (for example, the 1RM formula used here tends to read high, and much higher for some leg movements). They are not prescriptions and they are not guarantees of what you can lift or will achieve. See the science behind the numbers for the research and the limits.
Goals
A goal is a number you set. Do not chase it at the cost of technique, rest or health. Change or remove a goal whenever you like.
Use at your own risk
WeightIQ is provided “as is”, without promises about accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. You choose whether and how to train and you do so at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies to you, Tegrco Apps is not responsible for injury, loss or damage that results from using the app or relying on its numbers. Nothing here limits any right you have by law that cannot be limited.
